Lameness is endemic in our industry. Therefore, early recognition of loss of well-being and changes in health status of the horse is critical in preventing injury, pathology and lameness in horses.
Prevention is always better than cure, and we all know, there is no horse without a healthy hoof! Many owners and professional admit to feeling regretful about not knowing a problem was apparent, until it was made obvious.
But how do we know if a hoof and therefore a horse, is healthy? First we must be able to see the problem, which begins with quality documentation!
Hoof morphology and posture mapping helps us appreciate soundness and balance and its value in a pro-active and preventative approach to horse care, is now becoming firmly established in modern podiatry, farriery and veterinary science.
