PRO-Active Integrative Hoof Care Event - 5th August 2023

Unique PRO-active Integrative Hoof Care day - an overview of our hoof rehab approach including a unique opportunity to practice what you learn on a Dopplehoof trimable hoof model. This is our flagship 1 day intensive interactive educational event with Beccy Smith BSc ADAEP EBW - independent integrative equine podiatrist, mentor & consultant with over 30 years industry experience.

Learn from the pros - when you know better, you can do better! Prevention is always better than cure and this is now more relevant than ever with lameness on the increase. This course will help you become a more PRO-Active and responsive horse owner or professional by recognising indicators of a loss of health and balance in the hoof and also the posture,  learn why this is happening, and the foundation of successful rehab of the whole horse.

This event will also help you recognise what might be the most appropriate intervention(s) to help support a return of health and soundness and learn the value of teamwork for promoting well-being and lasting resilience in the horses we all love - from the hoof up!

This unique event also includes hoof mapping and basic trimming practice and principles under professional guidance for beginners and professionals using Doppelhoof trimable hoof model (which you get to keep!) This is NOT a "how to trim course" - you cannot learn how to trim a horse, any horse, in 1 or 2 days, or every weekend for a year! But what we can share with you is our approach to hoof rehab and maintenance of hooves and how we would trim the hoof in front of you to help you become more PRO-actively involved in maintaining the hoof between professional visits (eg, managing leverage and maintaining healthy breakover) using a safe trimming approach.

This is an intensive and practical event & includes:

• Recognising ideal hoof morphology and posture
• Review of functional anatomy of the digit and body
• Signs of pathology & distortions in the hoof and how this relates to the body
• Sympathetic horse handling for successful hoof care
• Hoof and posture assessment and trim demo on a live horse
• How to document and monitor changes (inc. HoofmApp demo!)
• How to help maintain the trim between visits and under guidance - learn using Dopplehoof trimable hoof model
• Selecting interventions for the individual horse - inc. hoof boots, and modern shoeing packages
• The importance of TEAMWORK in integrative horse care

No hoof care knowledge necessary. Suitable for horse owners, carers and all equine professionals including therapists, trainers, vets, EDT’s, farriers, trimmers, podiatrists saddle fitters & students. The event price includes the Dopplehoof hoof which is a trimable hoof model (which you can take home with you!) to practice assessment, documenting and trimming plus basic instruction on tool use. Please bring a rasp (and handle), a knife and suitable protective clothing (cut proof gloves/armsleeves or hoof trimming gear). Note: you DO NOT have to trim on the day and will learn much from observing if you chose not to participate in trimming. Trimming tools or lunch is NOT provided.

Beccy's approach to holistic horse and hoof care is unique. Her approach is inspired by modern and progressive "horse focused" equine podiatry, barefoot and farriery industry leaders, and her own extensive research, observations and documentation.

This is an intensive and fast paced educational event and we have limited the group to 10 at this location to give you the best learning experience.

ABOUT BECCY: Beccy has over 30 years industry experience and has been trimming horses and documenting the results for continuous study of the hoof and horse since 2009. Beccy is qualified in Advanced Applied Equine Podiatry and Equine Body Work but considers herself a (fierce and proud)  independent Integrative Equine Podiatrist and student of the horse. Beccy is skilled at recognising early signs in the horse and hoof which might indicate a loss of health and her pro-active approach to integrative hoof care has helped many horses recover from lameness, injury, trauma, disease and infections and avoid such problems in the first instance. Beccy is currently studying Lazaris Nerve Release Technique with Balance Through Movement Method and will be offering this service in the summer.

Beccy values the importance and relevance of effective TEAMWORK between professionals and the variety of interventions which are appropriate in deep healing and prevention of injury and trauma in horses. REFUND POLICY: If due to unforeseen circumstances we (Holistic Reflections CIC) have to cancel the event at ANY time, we will provide a full refund.

If at any time after close of registration (1 week before the event) you find you are unable attend for any reason, you will be refunded 50% of your course fee and your place will be offered to someone else.
